Virgin wanted to sell bikes and scooters over the internet. The visual look of this particular business had to appear in keeping with the other Virgin sub-brands.
The identity had to embody the essence of the business just like, for instance, the button image used in the Virgin Mobile identity.
To begin with many hours were spent 'on-site' in bike shops and parking bays sketching various parts of the machinery.
After a very short while it became apparent the very essence of a bike or scooter was its petrol tank!
